Ko Jana Hayes tōku ingoa
Ko Ngai Tahu me Ngati Kuia tōku iwi
Nō otautahi ahau.

Kia ora, I’m Jana Hayes, third and final year Environmental Management and Planning student at Lincoln University. I’m 24 years old, and reside in Lincoln, Canterbury with my partner of 8 years.

I started uni after about 5~ years of Diary Farming. beginning with AgSci, I moved over to Environmental Management after discovering I’m not so great at science part of agriculture. This worked out well because aside for my love of dairy farming (I love being outdoors and working with animals), I’m passionate about the environment. I’ve enjoyed my time at university, however I’m pretty excited to get back into the work force!

I love learning about māori history and culture, and my ultimate goal would be working within one of my own iwi helping with environmental policy development.

Aside from my passion for the environment, some other things I enjoy are: Classic cars and hot rods, the louder, the better! (I plan to build my own one day). Reading historical fiction, playing PC games, discovering beautiful parts of New Zealand, camping, swimming, and powerlifting.

This blog will be dedicated to the class soci314. However it may also serve as a more professional blogging place throughout my career, as I already have a personal rather non-professional blog elsewhere.
